What do Israelis think of the peace talks? Not much. Oh there are some who are so naïve that they believe all the hype but that number is declining.

“… most Israelis have had it with the peace paradigm based on Israeli concessions of land and national rights in exchange for Palestinian terror and political warfare. When asked whether the government should extend the prohibition on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria beyond its September 26 terminus, 63% said no, it should not. A mere 21% of the public believes the government should respond positively to the US demand that Jews continue to be denied our property right in Judea and Samaria.” (J-Post)
And it’s not just the building moratorium that Israelis know something about. They are not clueless. They watch what the Palestinian Authority is doing. And not.
They know that for all the talk about Palestinian security forces, the whole deal is an act. The most corrupt government imaginable has a swinging jail door when it comes to crime, terror and thuggishness. They cannot be trusted.
And it’s not just the authority. The society is full of people who are as uncivilized as can be. They are legion. Yes there are some who want peace and would embrace the rule of law. But there are vast numbers who are lawless and clueless about what it takes to make and maintain peace.
The Israeli people like the talks better than war, but trusting the Palestinians to be able to reign in terror. Puleeese!
